As we approach the 3rd week of September, I look back on the 30th Anniversary of the Kathy Stillwell Celebration of Life 5K Run. Kathy was a World Class athlete and we all grew up with her mom “Miss Nancy” on Romper Room.
At the height of her career, she was diagnosed with MS. It was her spirit to live the best life possible in spite of her diagnosis that inspired me to Sponsor a 5K Run and 1-mile fitness walk in her honor. Insurance would not cover her medical bills, but Central Florida embraced Kathy and her love for life.
I was blessed to have been part of this history. Her mother asked me 10 years ago to be the memory keeper of her life so in Honor of Kathy and her family and all of Central Floridians that were inspired by her please enjoy the memory of Kathy Stilwell.
Kathy lost her battle with MS in 1996.
